TEACHING ASSOCIATES
Guest teaching artists occasionally visit the Essentials Workshop to introduce their respective disciplines and its relevance to acting, and they sometimes participate more extensively in the Advanced Workshop. These are just a few of the many associates that have provided supplementary instruction at Andrew Wood Acting Studio.
Leah Zhang is a Nationally Certified Teacher of the Alexander Technique. She specializes in teaching actors a practical approach to not only become more comfortable in auditions, but also learn how to alleviate performance anxiety once they’ve booked the job so that they naturally experience more authenticity in their work. Leah received her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting from the prestigious Old Globe Professional Actor Training Program and draws from her acting and movement experience to help actors become fully alive in the body of their characters. Beth Gudenrath, Certified Associate teacher of the Fitzmaurice Voice technique, has been working as a professional actress, as well as studying Fitzmaurice Voicework for over 13 years in Los Angeles, CA. She has been assisting Master Teacher Saul Kotzubei with his Introductory Weekend Intensives for over 8 years. Beth has taught in Barcelona, Spain and Vancouver, Canada at both Freedom and Focus International Fitzmaurice Voice Conferences, where she performed a segment of her one-woman show, “Igniting the Voice Within.” Beth taught along side Catherine Fitzmaurice and other Master Teachers at the Los Angeles Fitzmaurice Teacher Training Certification among other various workshops. She has also been a guest teacher at UCLA and Cal State Long Beach. Beth has studied acting at Stuart Rogers Studios for over 10 years, recently as a part of his Teacher Training Certification Program. The former head of the Voice and Speech Department at the X Repertory Theatre Company and Theatrum Elysium, Beth is committed to empowering actors to their fullest potential possible. She maintains her own private practice out of her home near Pasadena, and continues to act on stage, TV, and film. Her best role yet, playing mom to Adelenne Rose, her 7-year-old daughter.
Chris Lang holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Wyoming and an MFA from the American Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.)/Moscow Art theatre School (MXAT) Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University. Mr. Lang has taught at Harvard University, Harvard Summer and Extensions Schools, the University of Wyoming, the ART Institute, and the Moscow Art Theatre School. Chris is a teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework, and plans to attend the program in Fitzmaurice teacher certification in the near future.
